?Cómo terminar de enseñar los textos si estás atrasada con las lecturas?

Este es mi quinto año enseñando la clase de AP Spanish Literature y para ser sincera, NUNCA he podido terminar todas las lecturas en clase como me gustaría. 38 textos para una clase de un año escolar, viendo a mis alumnas solo 3 o 4 veces por semana es demasiado. Sin embargo, en este tiempo he diseñado un sistema infalible para que entre toda la clase colaboremos y podamos estudiar todos los textos .

With that said… I want to share my AP Spanish Lit calendar with you. I mentioned on my Instagram stories that I have a system for the end of the school year, because I am ALWAYS behind on the readings. We are currently finishing Unit 3 out of all 8.

This is my process for AP Spanish Lit:

✏️ I assigned one poem or short story per student - we read Bernarda Alba and San Manuel Bueno, mártir together, since those are the last big readings
✏️ Students are expected to record themselves presenting their poem or short story. They must include a summary, explanation of each theme with examples (quotes) and explanation of literary terms with examples - they get the themes and literary terms  from the College Board curriculum.
✏️ I provide a calendar of “homework”. This homework is not graded, it is in preparation for class. The “homework” is to read the text and watch the presentation another student prepared based on that reading.
✏️ In class we do Socratic Seminars to discuss each reading, take multiple choice quizzes and practice FRQs and essays.
✏️ I am responsible for presenting in class (before assigning readings/videos) on the historical and cultural context of each time period so students are prepared.

This all seems like a lot, but I guarantee you that is doable. “Homework" should only take 30 min per day and I provide students with links to audiobooks to make their comprehension easier.

I'm sharing my calendar in hopes that you find it helpful,  but please note that this is based on what works for my students. Make a copy, edit the calendar or don't use it at all if you think it won't be helpful.

I hope this is helpful and gives you some peace of mind. Remember you have done sooooo much already!!! Now is time to trust and let go!!! :)
Un abrazo,
